Legal rules and relationships which arise after the death of the testator are governed by the Inheritance Act. 

Succession rights are obtained at the time of the testator's death based on the Law or a will (testament).  Any person may waive that right.  

All rights and obligations are transferred from the testator to his/her heirs by inheritance. 
If the testator left no will, the legal heirs would inherit from him/her by orders of inheritance whereby a following principle applies: the heirs of closer order exclude the heirs of further orders.
